Ateliers : écriture créative et réseaux sociaux numériques

Caroline Metz and Théo Barreau from the Maelstrom collective and the Cité des Écritures of the Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle invite you to a series of creative writing workshops centred around social networks.

Workshop - The Creepypasta forum - Tuesday 6 October 2026 Serving as a digital extension of old urban legends, Creepypasta are scary stories that have been passed around since the early days of the internet via email and forums, and which continue to send shivers down our spines to this day. They take up classic ghost story or haunted house themes by incorporating elements specific to cyberculture, ranging from fake video games to YouTube videos. Participants will therefore be brought together to meet on a forum (IRL) to share their most terrifying creepypastas.

Workshop - Photo novels on Instagram - Friday 16 October 2026 Long considered cheesy and outdated, the photo novel is currently enjoying a resurgence in popularity on Instagram. This is evidenced by the multitude of posts parodying pages from the cult magazine Nous Deux, the French specialist in romantic photo novels. Participants will in turn be able to try their hand at hijacking archival material on social networks by reinterpreting the romantic storylines of photo novels in their own way.

Workshop - Imagining paranormal phenomena with the SCP Foundation - Tuesday 3 November 2026 The SCP Foundation (Secure, Contain, Protect) is a secret organisation that has been working since 2007 to catalogue and contain all the paranormal objects, entities and phenomena that secretly threaten the world. An international collaborative literary work, its writings are shared on a multilingual wiki platform bringing together reports on these phenomena and tales expanding its universe. This workshop will be an opportunity for participants to help make the world a safer place by joining the Foundation to submit their own reports there.

Workshop - Chatfics on Tumblr - Friday 20 November 2026 The 18th century had Les Liaisons dangereuses, the 21st century has "chatfics". Also known as "text message fictions" or "c
