Cendrillon - Ballet Julien Lestel

Julien Lestel transposes the tale into a corporate world run by an authoritarian mother. Cinderella is a junior employee, harassed by her stepmother and stepsisters.

Through taut, expressive choreography, Lestel brings to light the psychological violence inflicted upon her, but also Cinderella's inner strength, ready to emerge. The fairy godmother becomes the conscience of her desire for emancipation and her quest for freedom.

The prince, founder of a start-up, charismatic yet fragile, embodies another form of solitude; their meeting is not a rescue, but a moment of mutual recognition.

The twelve strokes of midnight do not sound the end of a magic spell, but are the echoes of the harassment she has endured; the encounter is not a "happy ending", but the beginning of a rebirth.

The music, which blends the work of Prokofiev with the electronic creations of Ivan Julliard, underlines this tension between the outside world and inner life, submission and emancipation, tradition and modernity.

Opening the evening, excerpts from the ballet Libre, choreographed by Julien Lestel, performed by students of the Ecole Nationale de Danse de Marseille.
