Overview
Gaspar Cassadó (1897 – 1966) - Pablo Casals (1876 – 1993) Valérie Aimard and Cédric Lorel pay tribute to two towering Catalan cellists, both also composers.
2026 marks the 60th anniversary of Gaspar Cassadó's death, the centenary of his famous Suite for solo cello, and the 150th anniversary of Pablo Casals's birth. All the colours of Spain resound in G. Cassadó's exceptionally rare Sonata in A minor and in his fiery Requiebros.
In striking contrast, Pablo Casals's early works charm with their simple, dreamlike, poetic romanticism. A programme of dazzling richness, well worth discovering.
United by a long-standing musical friendship, Valérie Aimard and Cédric Lorel bring out the distinctive style of these two great masters: passionate musical gesture, nobility of expression, elegance in a song imbued with freedom.
Come celebrate the release of this brand-new album with them!
