Overview
Julie Campiche is not only a talented harpist (Swiss Music Prize in 2025), she loves to improvise and innovate with her instrument. With Unspoken, she composes a solo tribute to women, famous or anonymous, whose voices have too often been silenced. Video mapping by Sophie Le Meillour accompanies the harp performance, enhanced with electronic effects.
“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” This quote by Virginia Woolf is the starting point for Julie Campiche’s new solo project. Each composition musically tells the story of a woman, from yesteryear or today, from here or elsewhere, famous or anonymous. Responding to an intense need for sisterhood, she carries these voices that have been silenced, minimised, anonymised, and yet are so powerful. For this creation, Julie Campiche collaborates with artist Sophie Le Meillour to enrich the show with video mapping projections. The creation premiered on 8 March 2024 as part of the Vernier Cultural Season (Switzerland) on International Women's Day. The album Unspoken was released on 13 February 2026 by Ronin Rhythms (Swiss pianist Nik Bartsch’s label). Julie Campiche is constantly innovating with her instrument. Her research leads her to enhance her harp with electronic effects that subtly complement her improvisational palette. She thus creates a very personal technique and language. Her musical approach is driven by the desire to find the infinitely universal in the deepest intimacy, to work on self-forgetfulness and on the creation of spaces where dreams come true.
Meeting
The concert will be preceded by a discussion on art and feminist commitment with Charlotte Bienaimé, Juliette Copeland and Amelia Feuer.
