We are in Helsinki, capital of a Finland that has become a land of welcome for climate refugees. Nostalgic for the cheerful bingo nights of their homeland, the French working-class community gathers every Saturday at the Bingo Halli in their neighbourhood, hoping to win a prize that might help with a bleak everyday life. Only, in Finland, the atmosphere in bingo halls is pathetic.
With Diskoteekki ("disco" in Finnish), Nicole Genovese, known for her theatre of poetic, absurdist and social humour, leads the ensemble of Les Percussions de Strasbourg into a reflection on enchantment. This musical comedy, with the sincere charm of a vulnerable human group, pays tribute to the solitudes that come together and reveal themselves.
