Elie Semoun - Cactus - Tournée

There is no need to look far to grasp the tone of CACTUS! By giving this name to his new show, Elie Semoun sets the tone: it's going to sting! For 30 years, the comedian has established himself as one of the most incisive and delightfully offbeat comics on the French scene.

His style, blending subtlety and daring, has inspired many generations of artists. For his eighth show, Elie Semoun makes a slight shift: stand-up now occupies a more prominent place, a first for him. But make no mistake, CACTUS remains faithful to his taste for characters.

Among the gallery of his new monsters, you will meet Jean Abdul, who will open the show, a son who takes his father to visit a care home (EHPAD), Xavier the man with motor disabilities who introduces his wife to his mother, a father confronted with his son's transition, a racist karate teacher, or a biting look at sexual harassment and religion.

With CACTUS, Elie Semoun offers us a vision that is both profound and light-hearted of our society, somewhere between violence and inspiration, where themes of intolerance, taboo and injustice are addressed without pretence, yet always with that incisive touch that characterises him.
