About — The artist

Élie Semhoun, known as Élie Semoun, is a French comedian, actor, director, screenwriter and singer, born on 16 October 1963 in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.

He first became known in 1992 alongside Dieudonné, as the successful comedy duo Élie et Dieudonné. After the duo split, he pursued a solo career, both on stage and on screen.

After a number of appearances in popular comedies — including Les Trois Frères (1995) and Neuilly sa mère! (2009) — he sought to establish himself as a leading man. He achieved this with the Ducobu film series (2011-2026).

Also a voice actor, he lends his voice to the character Sid the Sloth for the French version of the American animated franchise Ice Age (2002-2022). Since 2014, he has voiced the legionary Cubitus in the Astérix animated films written and directed by Alexandre Astier.

He has also released three albums as a songwriter and singer.
