This time, the iconoclastic artist rewinds flamenco to its very foundations: those characteristic foot strikes from which her dance takes flight. In flamenco terms, the rhythm produced by the performer's heels striking the floor is called zapateado.

This distinctive pulse has accompanied Rocío Molina since the age of seven. Every day, like a musician running scales on her instrument, she tirelessly trains her feet in the fundamentals of her art.

What would be mere warm-up for others has, for her too, become the raw material of a choreographic quest. Setting the body in motion is already the start of creation.

It's also, beyond the pain caused by repeated movement, a way of feeling alive and inscribing oneself in an ever-renewed present, "to see who we are".

Encender el cuerpo thus returns to the very essence of her creative work, a source that had already fed Calentamiento, the choreographer's previous piece.

In this dizzying solo, an occasional dialogue is struck up with her accomplice and "rhythm partner" of fifteen years, dancer José Manuel Ramos Oruco, without ever dousing the sacred fire that burns through the dancer's body. Hence the title of this piece, blazing with intensity.
