Catherine Lara et la Cie Kumo : Identités

The most beautiful journeys begin with an encounter.

And when that encounter is as beautiful as it is unexpected, it promises an exceptional destination.

To mark her 80th birthday and 55 years of career, Catherine Lara is celebrating a truly extraordinary artistic journey in 2025–26 by taking on a new challenge: an unprecedented collaboration with the Compagnie Kumo.

Promoted last August to Commander of the Legion of Honour, she confirms her status as an icon of the French music scene, still in pursuit of renewal and powerful artistic encounters.

Catherine Lara and her violin draw you into the world of the Compagnie Kumo's dancers, to the rhythm of her own compositions and film music.

Experience the wonder of a poetic journey in which each performer embodies, with strength and generosity, what shapes their identity: our relationship with social media, our place in society and our relationship with one another.

A clash of generations, artistic worlds and cultures: on the surface, everything seems to set Catherine Lara and the Kumo apart. And yet... their differences are as many assets that will unite them for the length of a rhythmic, dreamlike and singular show.

When world music meets breakdance and hip-hop, the result is an explosive combination of identities that confront and blend into one another.

IDENTITÉS has been a triumph across France, Switzerland and Belgium since 2023.

Already 40 performances and more than 20,000 spectators have been won over by this bold, poetic and resolutely contemporary creation.

Le Dauphiné Libéré: “Identités is a true snapshot of our era, so complex, pulling us apart from one another while championing social bonds. Identités is an artist with her heart on her sleeve, a violin virtuoso, and dancers who are as different as they are united, mastering their art perfectly. And on stage, they cry out to us: let us love our differences, let us love our similarities, let us be who we are.”
