Focus société : Nos Huit Rois (nos présidents)

is a theatrical series of 6 shows. Its intention is to portray each of the 8 presidents of the Fifth Republic. While each episode can be viewed independently, the whole constitutes a fresco that tells the story of French society from 1958 to 2027. After the delightful "La vie et la mort de J. Chirac, roi des français" we invite you to continue the adventure with 2 episodes this year during the same evening!

"Le dîner chez les français de V. Giscard d'Estaing" at 6pm - DURATION: 1h45

31 December 1974. Valéry Giscard d’Estaing and his wife Anne-Aymone visit the Deschamps - Corrini, a family of Norman farmers, to celebrate New Year's Eve. The evening, which symbolically spans the 7 years of the presidential mandate, begins radiant and enthusiastic only to quickly descend into anger, resentment, and mutual rancour. Between the watercress soup and the fallue (a typical Norman dessert), hosts and guests humorously explore the profound changes in French society in the 70s: economic crisis, unemployment, societal upheavals (abortion, divorce…).

"Génération Mitterrand" at 8:45pm - DURATION: 1h15

Marie-France is a journalist in Paris; Luc, a teacher in Vénissieux; and Michel, a factory worker in Belfort. Through the personal and political journeys of these 3 characters born in 1950 who voted for Mitterrand in 1981, we are presented with a portrait of the left-wing populace in all its diversity. With the account of their hopes and their disillusionments, together, they tell how the Mitterrand presidency changed their lives. With tenderness, humour, and great relevance, we discover a sensitive portrait of an entire generation.
