Through this program, Fred Pallem brings a fresh perspective to the work of one of his mentors, highlighting the lesser-known facets of composer Ennio Morricone, inspired by both the pop music of his era, serialist music and free directed improvisation.
He unearths rare gems, reorchestrates them, transforms them without altering their essence, plays his orchestra with musical forms, compares them with known themes to share with an audience often familiar only with the composer's blockbusters (Once Upon a Time in the West, The Professional).
