Oriki & Woz Kaly - La Petite Vendeuse de Soleil

A spellbinding cine-concert, a journey to the heart of Dakar, a tribute to the courage of street children, an ode to hope, life and friendship. Musicians summon their ancestors on stage and offer a deeply theatrical concert.

The film La Petite vendeuse de soleil by Djibril Diop Mambéty is a fair, moving work. An urban tale that, with an accessible, light touch, depicts the reality of Dakar's streets and the harsh daily life of the children who fight to survive there.

To accompany this poignant story, Oriki, a group at the crossroads of African and Arabic music, collaborates on this project with Woz Kaly, a Senegalese singer with an international career (Missal, Touré Kunda, Youssou N'Dour, Flavia Cohelo).

Through their warm, colourful compositions, the musicians bring out the determination of the main character, Sili, and the poetry of everyday life as filmed by Mambéty.
