Giovanni Mirabassi - Più Avanti

Timeline is a concert format devised by Juliette Poitrenaud. Since 2023, on a regular basis, a musician takes over the Sunset or the Sunside for three evenings to explore three stages of their career: concerts framed in the past, the present and the future.

In 2001, Giovanni Mirabassi fulfilled a dream he had held since adolescence: reinterpreting the revolutionary songs that had marked his life. With ‘Avanti!’, performed alone at the piano, the artist produced the manifesto of his career. Against all expectations, the project met with dazzling success (70000 copies sold) and established the Italian pianist as a leading figure on the international music scene. Buoyed by this momentum, Giovanni received the Victoire du Jazz and the Django d’Or in 2002. No longer available for sale since 2005, the album has nonetheless never ceased to exist, to be passed on and to be requested. Twenty-five years after the birth (and the disappearance) of this legendary album, Giovanni Mirabassi finally revisits these compositions with the experience, maturity and technique he had always envisaged. ‘Piu Avanti!’ is the masterpiece of a life built on resilience.
