Guembri Superstar feat. Lova Lova & Emma Lamadji

Artisanal percussion and electronically amplified strings unleash a raw, danceable music for an out-of-time celebration in which cultures amplify furiously as they cross paths. Led by Lova Lova, aka Maître Tonnerre, Guembri Superstar takes you into a hybrid folkloric trance rooted in ancestral traditions and pumped up with urban energy drawn directly from the ghetto of Kinshasa. Alongside them, the magnetic Franco-Central African singer Emma Lamadji, with her powerful and deeply felt voice, infuses this electric ceremony with a soulful and spiritual intensity.

Supporting act: Hieroglyphic Being / Hamid Drake / Shabaka / Dudu Kouaté

Four visionary sonic explorers come together for an unprecedented creation in which ancestral African traditions, trance, improvisation, spiritual jazz and electronic music meet. Around the cosmic textures and hypnotic pulses of Chicago DJ Hieroglyphic Being, the telluric rhythms of drummer Hamid Drake engage in dialogue with the incandescent breath of Shabaka and the ritual percussion of Dudù Kouaté. A free and vibrant sonic ceremony — and perhaps, already, the music of the future.
