Joy

In a present marked by violence, inequality and many forms of oppression, joy ceases to be a simple emotion and becomes an ACT OF RESISTANCE. A way of sustaining life when everything seems to be heading towards collapse. From this motivation JOY was born, the new creation by LABotilar: a contemporary dance piece imbued with the emotional and symbolic power of flamenco. Born of rupture, hybridity and resistance, this emerges here as an embodied memory.

Capable of turning wound into rhythm, pain into intensity and fragility into celebration. The work places two bodies on a stage of tensions, rules and structures of control, where play becomes a metaphor for existence. In this world, the figure of the DJ appears as an almost divine presence which, through sound and light, alters the atmosphere of the stage and modulates the delicate balance between order, chaos and freedom. It is precisely within this friction that Joy resides: a space where the fall and the impulse coexist. Where joy does not appear as a denial of the wound, but as the capacity to traverse it and transform it into a VITAL force.
