It is all the art of Molière, to "make fun of the folly of Men", that comes through in this classic masterpiece, which still feels so modern. Beyond the delightful psychiatric analysis of avarice through the character of Harpagon, and the splendid portrayal of the clash between generations, the play stands out for its theatrical abundance, weaving together romantic and family intrigues in a style in which Molière delights in combining Harpagon's natural speech with the more sophisticated language of the other characters. But Molière's great genius lies above all in making the audience laugh with a main character who is odious, tyrannical, selfish and compulsively... miserly.
The press says:
TÉLÉRAMA TTT "A funny production, perfectly paced, to be shared as a family."
LE PARISIEN "Dynamic, generous in visual gags and with strong-willed characters (...) This Molière is one to enjoy as a family."
FIGARO MAGAZINE "A Molière classic carried by a lively company that favours the burlesque side."
