It is one of the most famous and frequently performed plays in Beaumarchais' repertoire. On the day of his wedding to Suzanne, Figaro discovers that his master, Count Almaviva, is trying to seduce his fiancée. Aided by the Countess, Figaro and Suzanne will thwart his schemes with cunning, disguises, and misunderstandings. Beneath the lively and brilliant comedy lies a critique of privilege and power dynamics, foreshadowing the upheavals of the French Revolution.
