1895 in a Parisian theatre.
Auguste Levasseur, leader of a 'claque' (a group of professional applauders), directs a troupe of accomplices who, mixed in with the audience, are tasked with applauding at opportune moments.
A play that receives applause is a successful play, but two hours before a big premiere, Auguste is abandoned by his claque.
He then entrusts Fauvette, an orchestra musician, and Dugommier, the theatre's stage manager, with finding replacements to save the evening's performance.
There's only an hour and a half left before the premiere to rehearse the novice claqueurs by having them interpret excerpts from the show, which features no less than five acts, forty musicians, and thirty set changes!
The task is arduous, there are only three of them, and tonight, their careers hang by a single 'claque'!
After Le Siffleur and its 700 performances, Fred Radix returns with a new show that tackles a subject and a character who have marked the history of theatre, treating them with humour, musicality, and historical anachronism.
