Overview
From 2 to 27 November 2026, the City of Paris, CARE France and Agence MYOP aim to raise awareness among Parisians and city users of the impacts of climate change on women and girls around the world.
CARE France is an association that has been fighting poverty and inequality around the world for 80 years. It focuses on the link between climate change and gender. “Le changement climatique est sexiste” (“Climate change is sexist”) because it affects women and girls disproportionately across the world. They are the ones taken out of school to fetch water from ever further away during droughts. They are the ones forced into marriage so that one less mouth has to be fed. They are the ones who go without food when supplies run short because harvests have been destroyed. And they are the ones who experience a rise in domestic violence during heatwaves. Yet women and girls are also the champions of adaptation efforts in their communities. Agroecology, education, health programmes, economic empowerment… women and girls are key actors in the solutions.
