Maldonne - Leïla Ka

Presented by Compagnie Leïla Ka. Maldonne [Mix-up] After a trilogy made up of the creations "Pode Ser", "C'est toi qu'on adore" and "Se faire la belle", Leïla Ka presents her first group piece, titled "Maldonne". On stage, dresses.

Evening dresses, wedding dresses, nightdresses, everyday dresses, ball gowns. Sequinned, long, puffy, fitted, oversized. Dresses that fly, that shine, that crack, that spin, that trail or fall.

Empire-line dresses, boned corset dresses, dresses that waltz to Leonard Cohen, or dresses that seem to weep, badly stitched, light, without structure, tied at the waist. And then solitary dresses, rebellious, playful, set against electronic bass.

On stage, five performers wear these dresses. Five who sweat, because they are alive.

The choreographer reveals and dresses — in every sense of the word — the fragilities, the rebellions, the multiple identities carried by five female performers and forty dresses, in an attempt to explore femininity.

This magnificent show was nominated for the Rose Prize at Sadler's Wells, London, in 2025.
