The Trio Zeliha revives the fervor of romantic salons through two masterpieces of chamber music signed by Felix Mendelssohn and Clara Schumann.
The Trio Zeliha, a young French ensemble of excellence, imagines an evening of chamber music at the Schumann's home, in the heart of German Romanticism. In 1839, Mendelssohn composed his Trio No. 1 in D minor, immediately hailed by Robert Schumann as 'the master trio of our time'.
In 1846, Clara Schumann in turn signs her Trio in G minor. Admired virtuoso but long hampered by the conventions of her time, she doubted her legitimacy to compose, and yet this music exists, both intimate confession and gesture of artistic emancipation.
Carried by the Trio Zeliha, whose violinist Manon Galy was the Revelation of the 2022 Victoires de la Musique, this program brings this romantic heritage back to life with rare intensity. Duration: 1 hour without intermission
