Mendelssohn / Clara Schumann - Trio Zeliha

The Trio Zeliha revives the fervour of Romantic salons through two peaks of chamber music by Felix Mendelssohn and Clara Schumann.

The Trio Zeliha, an exceptional young French ensemble, imagines an evening of chamber music at the Schumanns', at the heart of German Romanticism. In 1839, Mendelssohn composed his Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, which Robert Schumann immediately hailed as "the master trio of our time". In 1846, Clara Schumann in turn wrote her Trio in G minor. A admired virtuoso but long hampered by the conventions of her era, she doubted her legitimacy as a composer, and yet this music exists, at once an intimate confession and a gesture of artistic emancipation.

Carried by the Trio Zeliha, whose violinist Manon Galy was the Révélation of the Victoires de la Musique 2022, this programme brings this Romantic heritage back to life with rare intensity.
