Of the forty-five passengers on board, more than half survived but waited a long time for rescue, in extreme conditions. Italian director Fabiana Iacozzilli investigated with survivors and bereaved families to reconstruct the ordeal they endured.

Set against the backdrop of a ruined aircraft fuselage, the performers manipulate life-sized puppets inspired by the sculptures of Giacometti, ghostly and fragile figures of the survivors, resisting as best they can, braving hunger, cold, isolation and the death of some among them.

And the tragedy reaches the power of myth.
