An expert in the delicate art of the ciné-concert, the highly adventurous Parisian group NLF3 showcases all its maestria with ¡Que Viva Mexico!, Sergueï Eisenstein's legendary film, lending it striking relief through a musical creation of the highest calibre.
Formed in 2000 on the initiative of the brothers Nicolas and Fabrice Laureau (formerly of Prohibition), NLF3 develops an instrumental language that is as shimmering as it is singular. Shifting mainly between post-rock and electronica, their music – resolutely wandering and adventurous – sometimes takes on other colours from elsewhere, for example Brazilian tropicalismo. Having released several albums of genuinely fine craftsmanship, the group proves especially gifted at ciné-concerts. Created in 2004, the one devised from ¡Que Viva Mexico!, Sergueï Eisenstein's legendary unfinished film, remains emblematic. Full of vivid, contrasting nuances and never merely illustrative, their musical accompaniment offers a rich echo to the visual power of the Soviet filmmaker.
