Overview
As he puts it himself: "I've got a face that doesn't leave room for long silences"... With his long beard and imposing presence, Umut Köker stands out on the stand-up scene. But don't be fooled by appearances, because this thirty-something is full of paradoxes.
With his sharp pen and a gaze as gentle, sensitive and tender as it is clear-eyed about the world, he delivers a show that is both hilarious and moving.
A skilful blend of personal confessions about his Turkish and Kurdish roots, his childhood in a suburban tower block through to his arrival in a business tower in La Défense, his single life and everyday racism, "Paradoxe", his first show, makes the case for looking beyond appearances.
With disarming finesse and undeniable comic instinct, Umut Köker is this season's unmissable new discovery.
