Greg Malcolm (NZ) A one-man orchestra A key figure on the New Zealand experimental scene, Greg Malcolm has been developing a unique language for over thirty years, pushing the boundaries of acoustic guitar.

Hailed by The Wire, DownBeat, and White Fungus as one of the most inventive musicians of his generation, he constructs a universe where melody, noise, improvisation, and sound poetry meet in an always surprising balance. On stage, Greg Malcolm becomes a true one-man band.

Simultaneously playing several guitars with his hands and feet, he enriches his instrument with sound objects – bells, springs, gongs, elastic bands, and other devices – to create music with astonishing timbral richness.

Nourished as much by popular music as by the worlds of Steve Lacy, Eric Dolphy, or contemporary improvised practices, his music unfolds in a deeply personal imaginary, where humour, surrealism, and the unexpected coexist with melodic writing of great finesse.

During this European tour, Greg Malcolm will notably present developments from Just Like Jim, a project intimately linked to a 1950s Hofner guitar that belonged to his grandfather.

Between personal narrative, extended instrumental techniques, and an evocation of Klezmer and Rebetiko music, he explores themes of memory, time, transmission, and the artist's role.

Each concert thus becomes an immersive listening experience, where virtuosity, sound invention, and narration intertwine in a form as free as it is hypnotic.
