Overview
Beyond his prodigious technical gifts, which opened the doors of the great international stages to him at a very early age, Alexander Malofeev has shown great artistic maturity since his debut. Opening with Louis Couperin's unmeasured prelude as a space of freedom, the programme unfolds a mosaic of inner landscapes. In Sergei Prokofiev, a handful of miniatures sketch fleeting impressions, such as La Promenade, which carries us towards a sunlit countryside. The tender calm of Tchaikovsky's delicately poetic pages is soon followed by the fire of William Bolcom's Rag infernal, which heralds the ferocious Mephisto Waltz of Liszt.
