Overview
This programme, introduced by the overture to Così fan Tutte, illustrates a turning point in music history. Should we hear the end of a world in Mozart's Sinfonia concertante, he who as a very young boy would leap onto the knees of Louis XV's daughters or, even younger still, kissed Marie-Antoinette while promising to marry her one day? Do we see in Beethoven's art the work of a free artist who, from his first two symphonies onward, heralds the musical revolutions of those that follow? It is also possible to hear a Beethoven who respectfully carries on the legacy of Haydn… and a visionary Mozart.
Programme: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart • Overture to Cosi fan Tutte KV 588, Sinfonia concertante for violin and viola KV 364. Ludwig van Beethoven • Symphony No. 2 in D major Op. 36.
Performers: Fanny Clamagirand • violin. Violaine Despeyroux • viola. Orchestre Le Palais Royal. Jean-Philippe Sarcos • conductor.
No admission for children under 4. The performance begins precisely at the announced time. Five minutes before the start of the performance, numbered seats are no longer guaranteed.
