Bandit Bandit

Bandit Bandit lights the fuse again. Two years after a first album, the most provocative duo in French rock returns with “Cavalcades – Ce que la nuit ne dit pas”. A more direct record, catchier and of great mastery.

The first warning shot: “Pas le Temps”, the first combative single, carried by a howling guitar and a nervous flow. Beneath the rock blast, an eighties pulse in the style of Daho, elegant and venomous.

The female voice skewers those so-called “deconstructed” men who are still quick to confine women within bourgeois codes: “Je n’ai pas besoin d’un homme, je n’ai besoin de rien”! The slap is chic, but it leaves marks.

That is the whole craft of Bandit Bandit: tension between desire and defiance, between caress and bite. The production is purer, more airy. And as far as songwriting goes, it is an immense leap forward. The band's writing has never been so direct and poetic.

As intimate as it is political.
