John Zorn, Jumalattaret
This devoted duo cannot be reduced to a simple soloist-accompanist pairing. The friendship between these artists, nourished by a shared love of twentieth-century music, is expressed in a poetic programme, where the astonishing Chants de Terre et de Ciel take centre stage. A song cycle at the crossroads of surrealism and intimate confidence, partly inspired in Messiaen by the birth of his son, and illuminated by the subtlety of Bertrand Chamayou's playing. The spectacular song cycle Jumalattaret offers the chance to discover the full panache of Barbara Hannigan.
