Barkanan

Barkanan is Ianis and Léo, two brothers who are songwriters and multi-instrumentalists whose folk invokes both intimacy and wide open spaces. To better envelope Ianis' high-pitched voice, Léo brings in guitar, piano and drums, like reassuring friends, with subtle nuance.

They take the name Barkanan from one of their distant ancestors and form a music duo starting in 2021. ) and mastered by Alex Gopher. Symbol of a movement, of an advance, the idea of crossing transcends minds. It is a leap into the unknown, toward discovery.

To cross time, difficulties, emotions. Their own, and those of others. Not to remain static, to cross things to grasp their complexity. To live the crossing as a construction.

On stage one holds one's breath before daring to applaud at the end of songs, for fear of breaking the spell. Their two voices, one deep, the other high, accord themselves in a natural brotherhood. It is the salient signature of their very current folk.
