Barkanan

Barkanan is Ianis and Léo, two brothers who write their own songs and play several instruments, and whose folk brings together both the intimate and wide open spaces. As if to better wrap Ianis's high-pitched voice, Léo brings in guitar, piano and drums, like reassuring friends, all subtlety. They take the name Barkanan from one of their distant ancestors and have formed a duo since 2021. They first released a self-produced collection of songs, but it was in autumn 2024 that their true first EP, titled "La traversée", came out, mixed by Clément Roussel (November Ultra, Voyou, Pépite,...) and mastered by Alex Gopher.

A symbol of a movement, of progress, the idea of a crossing transcends minds. It is a leap into the unknown, towards discovery. To cross time, difficulties, emotions. One's own, those of others. Not to remain static, to cross things in order to grasp their complexity. To live the crossing as a construction.

On stage, the audience holds its breath before daring to applaud at the end of the songs, for fear of breaking the spell. Their two voices, one deep, the other soaring into the high notes, blend in a natural fraternity. That is the striking signature of their very contemporary folk.
