Overview
Hi, we are Blood Red Shoes, a duo made up of Laura-Mary Carter (guitar and vocals) and Steven Ansell (drums and vocals).
We have been around for more than two decades, just the two of us, making records, touring the world, building our own little universe, and for everyone who wants to join us.
We like to call ourselves a rock band because it means almost nothing at all, and it makes us laugh, partly because in reality we are, without any doubt, a rock band.
In 2026, we are releasing our first new music in four years, which was entirely written, produced and mixed by ourselves, something we are rather proud of.
We are setting off on our first tour since our 20th anniversary shows in 2024: we will be covering the United Kingdom and Europe with a set full of songs taken from all our albums, along with a whole bunch of new tracks.
The shows will be as loud as your country's laws will allow us to be.

Steven Ansell is an American violist born in 1954, principal violist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 1996. He teaches at the Boston University College of Fine Arts and is a founding member of the Muir String Quartet.
