Overview
Since forming in 2014, Jae Matthews and Augustus Muller have built a following among the most devoted fans of the underground scene under the name Boy Harsher.
Their debut EP, *Lesser Man* — which features the cult track "Pain" — was first released in a limited-edition cassette run before a fan uploaded it to YouTube.
They carried that momentum into the album *Yr Body is Nothing* (2016) and the EP *Country Girl* (2017), paving the way for the critically acclaimed album *Careful* (2019), as well as the project *The Runner* (2022) — both an album and a film — for which the duo handled the writing, production and soundtrack.
Boy Harsher has continued to explore new horizons at the edges of darkwave, industrial music and electronica.
Their signature blend of hypnotic synthesisers, punchy rhythms and Jae Matthews's magnetic voice has influenced a new generation of artists, while helping to propel minimal synth, EBM and dark club electronic music from the underground into festival stages around the world.
