In the turmoil of Bordeaux in June 1940, Jacques, a jovial and witty shopkeeper, decides to record in a book the "rumours" circulating in his shop, between humour and absurdity, fuelled by the arrival of the German occupier. He then meets Daniel, a teenager with a brilliant talent for drawing, and their artistic complicity gives birth to an incredible, biting and subversive collection. But as the repression intensifies, denunciations pour in and their satire becomes perilous. Forced to stop the adventure, Jacques hides their manuscript in a mattress, awaiting better days… This true story of a book born from an improbable encounter comes back to life on stage to finally pay the tribute its two creators deserve.
