Overview
An emblematic ensemble of Corsican polyphony, bringing tradition and creation into dialogue, A Cumpagnia – represented here by four members, singers and instrumentalists – offers a concert in the form of a journey through time, between sacred and profane repertoires.
Active since 1978, A Cumpagnia cultivates the art of Corsican singing at the crossroads of traditional practice and contemporary creation.
Singing and playing one (or several) instrument(s), the ensemble members are committed to transmitting an ever-evolving repertoire, both timeless and current. Here numbering four, they offer a recital divided into two parts.
The first part, Cantu Sacru, brings together sacred pieces, old or recent, that testify to the spirituality deeply rooted in Corsican soil.
The second part, Cantu Prufanu, presents profane songs (paghjelle, terzetti and other lamenti) that accompany daily life on the island and express a terribly vivid memory.
Cast: François-Philippe Barbolosi, vocals, violin; Laurent Barbolosi, vocals, violin, guitar; Claude Bellagamba, vocals, guitar; Jérôme Casalonga, vocals, clarinet.
