Overview
AS PART OF THE 30TH EDITION OF THE VILLES DES MUSIQUES DU MONDE FESTIVAL
Between sea and mountains, modality and polyphony, Clair-obscur was born from a desire for a deep dialogue between the musicians of Constantinople and the singers of A Filetta, the leading ensemble of Corsican polyphony. A poetic and musical suite was thus imagined, interweaving the polyphonies created by the learned singers of A Filetta with songs and music composed and orchestrated by Kiya Tabassian. A deeply moving concert.
This most daring alliance draws on two terroirs, two living sources that geography sets apart. On the one hand, the island beauty of Corsica, between earth, sky and sea, austere and powerful, embodied in polyphonic songs by turns melancholic and festive; on the other, the refinement of the Persian musical and poetic tradition, which dictated to the East its magical laws.
