Declan Welsh And The Decadent West

Declan Welsh and the Decadent West at Le Chinois

DECLAN WELSH AND THE DECADENT WEST are back. After a break devoted to writing their 3rd album, the Glasgow band returns this autumn with more than 25 dates to support the release of their new album Explicit Agitation, due in September 2026.

The album is a furious and lucid testimony to the present moment, one that refuses to look away. It is also their most complete work: alongside its political commentary, there is love, loneliness, the loss of faith, and a sincere reflection on the real role of engaged art. Recorded with Chris Marshall at Castle of Doom Studios, the title of the record makes its intentions clear. The music lives up to it.

Led by singer-songwriter Declan Welsh, the band now surrounds itself with a shifting collective of friends and musicians, alongside long-time bassist Ben Corlett. They built their reputation on intense live performances and songwriting that is as striking as it is moving. Their first album, Cheaply Bought, Expensively Sold, was shortlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year; the second established them as an essential voice and a major live act. They headlined the Barrowland Ballroom twice, dominated the Tenement Trail line-up, and played TRNSMT, with appearances at Glastonbury, Isle of Wight and Reeperbahn.

The return of one of the most essential live bands in the United Kingdom.
