A revelation and favourite of the Festival d'Avignon off 2025, Derrière by Nicolas Chaigneau and Claire Laureau opens our 26-27 season.
“Failure does not taint the sincerity of the attempt” Paul Auster
After Les Galets au Tilleul (…), Derrière is the second part of the diptych Le Vide. Although these two shows are distinct in form, their main aim is the same: to work from situations that seem, at first, of no interest, and to try to draw out, with humour and meticulousness, their share of the sensitive, the absurd and the poetic. Through a multitude of makeshift contraptions, and by relying on the spectator's power of imagination, Derrière cleverly tries to make captivating a show that does nothing but fail, and to elevate the tragedy, quite relative, of this failure.
