DESPISED ICON

Founded in 2002, Montreal band Despised Icon, pioneers of deathcore, returns with its seventh studio album, *Shadow Work*. This record marks an important milestone for a group whose core line-up has remained virtually unchanged since its beginnings, allowing it to stay faithful to the sound and spirit it helped define. Lyrically, *Shadow Work* explores themes of resilience and inner healing, drawing on the psychological process of confronting and integrating one's darkest aspects. It is a deeply introspective album that reflects both personal growth and the turbulence of the world around us. The first release in six years, it is Despised Icon's most accomplished and dynamic work to date, combining relentless speed, crushing grooves and morbid melodies while staying true to their signature blend of extreme death metal and raw hardcore.

CARNIFEX

Nourished by nightmares and the nagging pulse of a pragmatic terror, CARNIFEX is back with its ninth studio album, *Necromanteum*, due out this autumn on Nuclear Blast Records. The album brims with fresh blood, both in the sense that it remains resolutely progressive and thanks to the recent arrival of guitarist and composer Neal Tiemann as a full member. After more than 18 years together, CARNIFEX continues to experiment with new musical arrangements and to add a unique atmosphere to its characteristic deathcore style. For the recording, these orchestrations were brought to life by film score composer Spencer Creaghan. Fans who love seeing CARNIFEX live will not be disappointed, as numerous exciting tours are planned for the rest of 2023 and 2024, with the new track "Torn In Two" already creating buzz during the band's last tour.
