Overview
Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine. Johanna Malangré, conductor. Liao Changyong, baritone. Traditional Chinese airs and songs. Maurice Ravel, Fanfare from "L'Éventail de Jeanne", Don Quichotte à Dulcinée.
Jacques Ibert, Valse from "L'Éventail de Jeanne", Quatre chansons de Don Quichotte.
From the banks of the Yangtze River to the arid plains of La Mancha, from delicate, sensitive classical Chinese poetry to the epic verses of the hidalgo Don Quixote, this programme is a grand journey between two musical eldorados.
Liao Changyong is its guide, carrying in his voice as much traditional Chinese heritage as Ravelian fire. An evening paying tribute to musical dynasties and their contemporary voices.
