Born in 1993 in Birmingham, Alabama, Early James, whose real name is Frederick James Mullis Jr., began playing music as a teenager, influenced by artists like Hank Williams, Johnny

, began playing music as a teenager, influenced by artists like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and Tom Waits.

The singer, guitarist and songwriter first performs as the opening act for his friend Fire Mountain's band, then settles in Birmingham, where he takes his stage name and forms Early James & the Latest in the early 2010s.

At a concert, the songwriter receives a visit from Dan Auerbach, half of the blues rock duo The Black Keys, who signs him in 2019 to his Easy Eye Sound label and produces his first album "Singing for My Supper" (2020), followed shortly by "Strange Time To Be Alive" (2022).

Two albums that earned him critical acclaim, before his breakthrough with "Medium Raw", released in early 2025 and recorded under live conditions at Honky Château, a century-old house located in the heart of Nashville.

A perfect setting for his swinging countrified style, his raspy voice, his dark and caustic lyrics, not to mention his unique blend of blues, country, bluegrass, folk and southern rock.

The one that the New York Times presented at his debut as "the missing link between Townes Van Zandt and Tom Waits" flourishes on stage, with his fellow musicians, which promises a beautiful evening, ardent and feverish as we love it here!
