Franco-Colombian musician Ëda Diaz invites you to discover (ËDA)MAME, a project in full germination. Goal: create a new album while creating a space for experimentation and meeting, through music, with the bean as guiding thread.
Magdalena – River of Dreams (A Story of Colombia), extensive cross-cutting account by Canadian ethnobotanist Wade Davis, is the primary source of (ËDA)MAME.
Atypical, this project is also watered by dialogue between Ëda Diaz and Xandra Uribe, keeper of a "frijolatorio" (a laboratory dedicated to beans), whose harvests are used to make jewelry.
Digging a singular furrow between electronics, modern pop and Afro-Colombian sonorities, the musician uses the bean ("frijol") here as a poetic prism to design the compositions of her new album, structured around the voice and double bass – her two favorite instruments.
She also makes it a conceptual approach to explore interconnected subjects: diaspora, (agri)culture, transmission, adaptation...
