Celebration of culture and traditional music from the Nordeste of Brazil

An important spokesperson for the culture of Pernambuco in France and a driving association in the exchanges between the cities of Nantes and Recife, Macaiba regularly organises workshops, trips and events showcasing the culture and music of the Brazilian Nordeste.

Festa Nordestina is a festival in Nantes, supported by the City of Nantes, dedicated to the culture of the Brazilian Nordeste and organised by Macaiba since 2012, featuring music, dance, cuisine and crafts. The atmosphere is festive, family-friendly, inclusive and intercultural.

We generally welcome between 200 and 300 people. Festa Nordestina is one of the rare festivals in France dedicated to the Brazilian Nordeste.

For its 9th edition, Festa Nordestina is taking place over two days and for the first time in the Malakoff district, the association's home territory.

To mark the trip made by about ten members of Macaiba during the Recife 2026 carnival, the association is offering a conference in the form of a travelogue and a photographic exhibition, followed by a free concert.

The following afternoon, it's time for practice: introductory forró and maracatu dance workshops, percussion discovery for everyone, young and old, parents and children alike (particularly those from the Malakoff district).

In the evening, time for the party (ticketed) with live music, a popular Brazilian dance ball and a DJ set... In 2024, Macaiba celebrated its 20th anniversary during a memorable festa nordestina where we welcomed 380 participants. We expect just as many for this new edition.
