Another early work, Puccini’s Adagetto, whose theme will be reused in his opera Edgar, already reveals an affecting lyrical vein.

With his final orchestral work Mina, Elgar paints a tender portrait of his beloved dog in this miniature full of charm and lightness, while Caroline Shaw draws on the classical form of a Haydn quartet for Entr’acte, a graceful work punctuated by subtle and delicious dissonances.

Finally, Max Richter plays with quotation and borrowing, putting back into circulation a Vivaldi reread in a very personal way.

Fragments of The Four Seasons serve as raw material for a play of loops and micro-shifts, within which the ear recognises the source work, then lets itself be surprised by the slight drifts, changes of angle and perspective.
