The Freiburger Barockorchester continues its journey with a second part devoted to Bach's Brandenburg Concertos (two concerts: Sunday 4 October at 11am and 4pm). In this legendary collection, Bach explores the art of dialogue without ever yielding to ostentation.

Each work thus invents a new configuration. The Third Concerto, written for strings alone, subverts the concerto model into a play of sound masses responding and intertwining with each other.

The Fifth Concerto then shifts listening: flute, violin, and harpsichord form a solo trio, but the harpsichord spectacularly frees itself from its subordinate role.

Finally, the Fourth Concerto dares the alliance of a violin and two flutes, ultimate demonstration of Bach's constantly renewed inventiveness. Concert performed on period instruments.
