Jeanine De Bique, Trinidadian soprano applauded at the Paris Opera in major Baroque roles—from Alcina to Susanna—ventures into a program as audacious as it is unprecedented: engaging the great opera arias of Handel and Rameau with traditional music of the Caribbean, wedding songs, dance airs, and island percussion.
A back-and-forth between two shores of the Atlantic, between Baroque Europe and 18th-century Caribbean, which reveals unsuspected circulations between these two worlds.
At her side, Apollo's Fire—one of America's most reputed Baroque ensembles, founded by harpsichordist Jeannette Sorrell—makes its La Seine Musicale debut.
Rewarded by international press (BBC Music Magazine, Gramophone), the ensemble is famous for its programs conceived as true musical narratives, living and theatrical. A rare evening at the intersection of cultures and continents. Concert performed on period instruments.
