Genesis Owusu, real name Kofi Owusu-Ansah, is a Ghanaian-Australian artist whose music defies classification. Emerging from the Canberra scene, he quickly drew attention with a bold approach blending hip-hop, funk, punk and R&B. His debut album, "Smiling with No Teeth" (2021), was acclaimed by critics and won numerous awards, including the Australian Music Prize. The record revealed an artist able to move between raw sounds and catchy melodies, tackling themes such as mental health and racism with striking sincerity. Tracks like "Don't Need You" and "The Other Black Dog" have become emblematic of his style.

Genesis Owusu's music stands out for its eclecticism and its ability to fuse genres that seem far apart. Echoes of Prince in its funk daring, of David Bowie in its experimentation and aesthetics, and of Kendrick Lamar in its lyrical depth and commitment can all be heard. He has created a singular sonic and visual universe, where every track is an exploration. His second album, "Struggler" (2023), confirmed this trajectory, refining his message while retaining the raw energy that characterises him. He continues to explore the complexities of modern existence with biting poetry and inventive arrangements.
