Gnawa Diffusion has lost none of its verve, nor the brilliance of its message. The Franco-Algerian collective, formed in 1992 in Grenoble, has returned to the studios, but it's always live that they reveal their full power. The same stage energy, the same free and libertarian speech, the same biting humour animate them. Because nothing has changed and inequalities are still present. Insubordination runs in their veins, especially those of their leader, Amazigh Kateb, son of the Algerian poet Kateb Yacine. Effervescent ragga, electric chaâbi, possessed raï, furious rock and Gnawa trance: their fusion is that of a never-extinguished volcano. A music of struggle and dance, which advocates freedom, love and peace. Galvanising and generous!
