Overview
Heroe's music is intimate, sensitive and hazy pop, which could be the soundtrack to the defining scenes of life. In « failles », his first album in French, Heroe offers raw, sincere and vivid music, sitting somewhere between Patrick Watson for the organic feel, Terrenoire for the lyrics, and Bon Iver for the melancholy. A record in which Heroe is truly Mehdi: this Franco-Moroccan who grew up with hit English-language films and series like Into The Wild, romantic and pop, with cathartic sincerity.
Heroe is above all an artist who has known how to take his time: the time to learn the guitar at age 12 until his fingers hurt, the time to discover Lo-Fi music, successful rock artists, to dream with great dreampop bands like Daughter or Angus & Julia Stone, then to buy his own music equipment to give birth that very evening to his first song, « Prom Night ».
In a single night, thanks to being shared on the Inès K musical discovery YouTube channel, Heroe gained popularity and subscribers on streaming platforms. He then shaped his live set on Norman stages - which is where he met Léo Chatelier, founder of the Duchess label - and took part in local talent contests before moving to Paris. Success began to emerge: 50,000 listeners per month on his first tracks, up to 400,000 after his collaboration with rapper Rxseboy on Leaving. In 2021, Heroe signed with Duchess and collaborated with Arthur Lacroix and Marc Le Goff on his album « failles », his first in French "so that people can understand me", as he points out. This album is that of a 32-year-old Norman artist in love with indie and imagination, happy to be melancholy, because it is the happiness of sadness and because one day we will be "happy, but perhaps not as we think", he sings.
