Imarhan Timlilit

The Algerian group Imarhan presents Imarhan Timlilit on stage at the Centre culturel Jean Houdremont in La Courneuve.

Formed in 2006 in Tamanrasset, the Algerian group Imarhan belongs to the tichoumaren movement, a contemporary variant of Tuareg guitar music associated with rock and independent music. Signed to the City Slang label, the band released its eponymous first album in 2016, following in the footsteps of desert artists while incorporating pop arrangements and Western rhythmic structures. This musical aesthetic, blending Saharan traditions and rock influences, defines the band's sonic identity.

On stage, Imarhan delivers a set built around incisive guitars and polyrhythms, carried by a tight-knit line-up. The concert highlights the dialogue between the vocal melodies in Tamasheq and the instrumental accompaniment, favouring a faithful rendering of the studio recordings in a direct live format. The show is aimed at audiences curious about contemporary world music and the crossroads between regional traditions and independent aesthetics. The evening takes place in the hall of the Centre culturel Jean Houdremont, a cultural venue located in La Courneuve.
