His double bass serves as an incandescent anchor point, around which the songs ignite, complicit in his escapades between chanson, jazz, and rock. Author, composer, and performer, he builds a body of work traversed by fertile tensions — between roughness and poetry, anger and tenderness, lucidity and vital impulses. Never decorative, his lyrics probe human flaws, intimate disorders, and the fragile joys that save, without seeking to soften or reassure. His incisive and poetic language readily shakes up conventional images. Abrasive and biting, it nevertheless remains inhabited by a poetic light, in direct contact with life and its turbulences. For over twenty years, Imbert Imbert has cultivated this universe of freedom and tension, alternating moments of stripping bare and electric bursts, always in search of the right breath. He returns today with a sixth album, Petit journal du feu, a tribute to his father and to the raw emotion of existence, accompanied on stage by Cédric Pierini on diatonic accordion, where jazz, rock, and improvised music meet to ignite the flame of creation.
